At MCC, the video and audio are recombined and sent to Maryland, where it is then streamed to YouTube. The video is sent from ISS to MCC via Ku-Band and the audio is sent via S-Band. The return link used to peak at 50 Mbps.Īll that said, the ISS doesn't stream live to Youtube. I should also mention that the 25/300 Mbps link is a recent improvement. That's why the ISS Internet has been described as slow. Once the signal gets picked up by the ISS comm system, it is reformatted and sent to the LAN and out to the laptop. And again, the “Internet” data only gets a portion of that bandwidth.

The tracker shows where the Space Station is right now and its path 90 minutes ago (-1.5 hr) and 90 minutes ahead (+1.5 hr). There’s a second cool video feed I found related to ISS. During “loss of signal” periods, viewers will see a blue screen. This video feed is available only when ISS is in contact with the ground. The video is accompanied by audio of conversations between the crew and Mission Control.
